B-24 over Tonopah

This photo, of a flight of B-24's, is over Tonopah, Nevada, bombing range. I flew in B-24 formations both day and night bombing targets on the desert floor below. (Central Nevada Historical Society.)

Cologne from Air

A view from my B-17 of the Cologne Cathedral beside the Rhine River. The photo was taken in October 1945. Most of the buildings surrounding the Cathedral are severely damaged, only the Cathedral still stands.

V.E. Day

V.E. Day, 1995 at Norwich, England. The Air Force veterans of World War II marched in an unforgettable and emotional parade from the Town Square to the Norwich Cathedral. At the Cathedral we attended a memorial service commemorating the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II.(Author's photo.)

Stearman

The author of Off We Go with his Stearman, PT-17. Primary Air Force trainer of the 1941-45 time. The airplane was restored after a three and a half year effort of thousands of hours or painstaking work. It is a joy to fly!

Clint and Stearman

The author's son, Clint Gustavson, who worked on the restoration of the Stearman Primary Trainer and who loved to fly with his dad. He died suddenly in 1998 not long after this photo was taken.
